  • Ontario
  • New Brunswick
  • Newfoundland
  • Alberta
  • Nunavut

What will we do?

At these sessions we are going to share information about People First and how to become a member in your community. The sessions will be led by current People First members.

At the information sessions, our members will talk about the following topics.

  • The history of People First in Canada
  • The work of People First and our priorities
  • The importance of self advocates having a voice
  • What it means to be a People First member and how to join

There will be lots of opportunities for everyone to interact and share questions and ideas. We will also have snacks for half-day sessions. We will have lunch for full-day sessions.

Why are we doing these sessions?

We are doing these sessions to increase People First membership. We are working with chapters in 6 provinces and territories by having information sessions and finding new volunteers.

People First of Canada received funding this year from the Government of Canada. It was called the Community Services Recovery Fund. This funding was managed by the Canadian Red Cross.

The pandemic was hard on everyone. It made it hard for People First chapters to meet and to grow. This funding will help People First of Canada to meet. We are hoping this will help increase our membership across Canada.
