People First of Canada is the national voice for people who have been labeled with an intellectual disability. We have been fighting the institutionalization of people with intellectual disabilities since the movement began in Canada in 1973.

This article covers issues that are important to People First of Canada and to the deinstitutionalization movement as a whole.
