Accessible Communication Project
People First of Canada (PFC) worked on a project with Inclusion Canada. The project was about Accessible Communication.
This project looked at ways to make information more accessible for people with an intellectual disability and their families. It looked at information from the Government of Canada and their services and programs.
You can read a plain language version of the final report in English and in French.
The project started in October of 2021 and ended in March of 2024. PFC had 2 members who were part of the project advisory committee. They shared their perspective and feedback on the project. They also were part of the research team for the project.
Many People First members were also part of this and did user testing of materials. More than 45 self advocates took part in an online survey and focus groups in French and English. Members across Canada shared their feedback on videos and Easy Read documents.
People First YK worked on pictures that we could use to show how to make information more accessible. People First QC members worked on user testing in French to give feedback on how to make documents more accessible.
In the end, this project put together lots of great information and recommendations for the Government of Canada.
